Tome Show: Monster Manual 2

Last week I had the great pleasure of joining Phil from ChattyDM and Quinn from At Will as guests on Jeff Greiner‘s The Tome Show discussing the Monster Manual 2. I’ll be posting a longer article discussing tips and tricks for using the Monster Manual 2 at your game table next week. For now, here are a couple of tips from the show:

  • Re-skin your chromatic dragons with new metallic dragon stats from MM2.
  • Up the damage of your minions to 3/4 level or, if you’re really harsh, equal to level.
  • As your players go up in level, throw six or eight minions instead of four for the same experience as a single beast.
  • Lower the hit points of older level 11+ solo monsters to 4/5. Increase damage by one die.

Once again it was a great pleasure to join the show and I’m hoping to be on again in the future. Thanks Jeff!

Thanks for the advice. When you recommend increasing damage to those solos by one die, do you mean to increase the die type — that is, from d8 to d10 — or to add an additional die of the same type — from d8 to 2d8?
