Last Friday, my second Monster Makeover article, the Demilich, was published on D&D Insider. This was a particularly difficult monster to make over, given the importance of the soul drain and the need to make it scary but not too deadly. The article has a couple of options available to suit most groups and describes the specific design considerations along with the stat block, some lair ideas, and some story seeds.
You can read both the Monster Makeover article, the Demilich and the black dragon Monster Makeover, Shademaw for free on D&D Insider without any required subscription.
