Skill Challenges with Quinn Murphy
by Mike Shea on 19 September 2011
Back in mid August I had a chance to talk to Quinn Murphy, the lead writer for the website At Will. Quinn has spent significant time thinking about and designing skill challenges, one of the more challenging aspects of 4th Edition. I spent an hour talking to Quinn about skill challenges and the resulting podcast was posted over at the Ennie-award-winning website, Critical Hits. You can find the podcast here:
Quinn Murphy on Skill Challenges (63 minutes, 61mb MP3)
Here's an incomplete list of topics:
- The three easiest tips for running skill challenges.
- Skill challenges in combat.
- Getting your players to think outside of their trained skills.
- Whether or not to announce skill challenges.
- Incorporating puzzles into challenges.
