Dave Chalker on Epic D&D
by Mike Shea on 7 November 2011
Recently Dave "The Game" Chalker, my friend and editor of the Ennie-award-winning gaming blog, Critical Hits spent an hour talking about the conclusion of his epic-tier campaign. As you can imagine, Dave runs a deep and rich game and has a lot of insights into the epic tier experience.
You can see the podcast over on Critical Hits, subscribe on iTunes or listen to the podcast directly (55 minutes, 52 megs).
For a sneak peek, here are Dave's biggest tips for running an epic tier game:
- Take a hard-line stance on game-breaking stuff.
- Go big or go home.
- Don't be afraid to pull punches. Throw everything at them.
- Emphasize the epic nature of the tier. Five epic-level demons shouldn't feel like five goblins.
It's a great discussion so please check it out.
